Cookie policy
Effective date: June 15, 2026. This page explains how cookies, browser storage, analytics tags, advertising tags, and similar technologies may be used on Markdown For All.
What cookies are
Cookies are small browser files used to keep websites working, remember preferences, measure performance, support advertising, and protect services from abuse. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixels, tags, and device identifiers.
Types of cookies and similar technologies

Google Analytics, Google AdSense, and consent mode
Markdown For All may use Google Analytics for aggregate usage measurement and Google AdSense for advertising. Google may use cookies or similar technologies to process IP address, device information, browser information, page URL, ad impressions, and interaction signals according to its own policies and user controls.
On first visit, the site sets Google consent signals to denied for analytics and advertising storage until you make a cookie choice. If you accept, those consent signals are updated to allow analytics and advertising storage. If you reject non-essential cookies, the site keeps those consent signals denied where supported.
File conversion and cookies
Cookies are not needed to read the contents of uploaded files. File conversion is handled by the API workflow described in the Privacy Policy. Uploaded files are processed to produce Markdown and deleted after the response is returned.
How to control cookies
You can accept or reject non-essential cookies in the banner shown on first visit. You can also block, delete, or limit cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block third-party cookies or clear data for a single site. Google also provides controls for personalized ads and analytics-related choices.
Blocking some cookies may affect analytics, ads, preferences, or security checks. It should not prevent you from reading public pages. If a browser setting breaks the converter, try clearing site data and reloading.
Advertising placement
Ads should remain separate from file upload controls, conversion buttons, copy buttons, download controls, error messages, and conversion results. The site does not ask users to click ads and does not make ads look like tool controls.

Consent implementation note
In release 2026-07-17-adsense-r9, Google consent values for advertising and analytics storage are initialized as denied before the visitor chooses Accept or Reject non-essential. Accept updates the relevant consent states to granted; Reject keeps them denied. The choice is stored in browser localStorage under a site-specific consent key so the banner does not need to reappear on every page.
Script loading and storage behavior can also depend on Google services, browser settings, regional requirements, content blockers, and future platform changes. This policy describes the project configuration without promising behavior outside the project’s control.
